Fiction, poetry, fictive forms, & heretofore unknown forms are wanted for the 2019 edition of Surrealists and Outsiders, the second of this series and companion to "I Wagered Deep On The Run of Six Rats to See Which Would Catch the First Fire" published in 2018.
We are looking for work that reflects and builds on the classic surrealist writings of André Breton and Leonora Carrington, as well as the influences on Surrealism such as the Comte de Lautréamont and Raymond Roussel, and the dadaists that preceeded them. We are not looking for Fabulism, Fantasy, Gnomes and fairies, magical princesses or unicorns. We wish to make a distinction that separates that material - which is perfectly legitimate in its own sphere - from Surrealism.
There are no length restrictions. All forms of writing that utilize surrealist techniques and processes will be considered. However - we are not able to reproduce artwork, drawings, smoke drawings or collage of any kind. We want to concentrate on the written word, which was the original manifestation of Surrealism.
Manifestos by recognized representatives of the International Surrealist milieu are welcomed. We will publish work in any language properly adhering to these guidelines.
This anthology will also include work by "Outsider" writers, which is defined as work that is created beyond what we consider the false map of convention. Work by prisoners, the unschooled, the challenged, and the unpublishable is sought. Generally these creatives do not or can not conform to this Submittable process. We are personally seeking out these individuals beyond this method. If you are aware of any such material and would like to bring it to our attention, do follow through and communicate this to us through this portal or our contact information on our website proper.
Writers will receive one contributor copy. No responses will be sent until the end of March.
If, of course, you are still unclear as to what we are seeking, you can always purchase a copy of Surrealists and Outsiders - 2018, which may be found on Amazon.
